Renovation stress doesn't come from construction — it comes from decisions made too late. My process is built around one principle: clarity before commitment. Every layout, material, and specification is resolved on paper first, so that by the time trades arrive on site, there's a clear plan to execute — not gaps to fill in.
We meet in your home to discuss your goals, evaluate your space, and get to know each other. This is where we set the direction for the project. Following the consultation, I send you a fee proposal, design agreement, and deposit invoice. Once that's in place, we get started.
Step 1: Design Consultation
Step 2: Site analysis & measurements
I schedule approximately two hours to do a detailed analysis and measurement of your space — the foundation everything else is built on. If you have a general contractor in place, this is a great time to make introductions and align on the project scope.
Step 3: Concept & Design development
With your space measured and your preferences understood, I develop the design concept — moodboards, colour direction, and initial space plans. This phase takes time and is done carefully. We build in checkpoints throughout so you're always in the loop, never surprised.
Step 4: Material & Product selections
Once the concept is approved, I refine the design into detailed drawings, 3D renders, and full FF&E and material selections. I present everything to you in a complete design presentation — your opportunity to review, ask questions, and approve before anything is ordered or built.
Step 5: Procurement and build
With the design approved, I begin sourcing and procuring the specified items while your contractor starts the build. For full service clients, I oversee the project throughout this phase — coordinating trades, tracking timelines, and making sure the design vision is being executed properly on site.
Step 6: Installation & final walkthrough
When the build is complete, we move into installation — furniture, accessories, and the finishing touches that make a space feel complete. Then the moment you've been waiting for: we walk through your newly designed home together to make sure every detail meets your expectations.
Step 7: Post-project follow-up
My involvement doesn't end at the walkthrough. I follow up after you've had time to settle in — to make sure you're happy with the results and that anything that needs attention gets addressed. A finished project is one you love living in, not just one that photographs well.
